Endings

Twilight threw shadows up the hills like dark bony fingers. Watching the growing, slowly moving shadows, he saw them creep into the edge of the trees like a dark hand insinuating itself into a living glove.

What do shamans 'see' when they look at people?

I can give a description of the human onion. When, in the shamanic sense, you see people in their totality as energetic beings, the picture isn't as easy to grasp as one might think because other human beings are made up of the same sorts of energy that the shaman is.

How would you address the concept of God?

You mean the big white guy on the throne? Well, the God concept isn't new. It has, in all the religions with the exception perhaps of Buddhism, certain common elements.

I mean from the Shamanic perspective.

There is no God, at least not some sentient guy/girl watching and helping. My view is much more in line with a natural order sort of thing. If you look at the struggle that is nature I think you have a good mirror for the concept of the godhead.

Man has created God?

Absolutely. God is a mental construct.

In essence then, does that mental image, indeed hold some valid image as a connection to the ultimate energy? Does it connect man to the cosmic pulse? Through an image he can comprehend?

Only when it reaches to the levels of mystery, all the rest of it is a recipe for controlling other human beings. No, it connects man to a very mundane death in the end. Beyond all that, I don't think it is necessary to tear down a concept to see the truth. I don't see why a shaman couldn't be a Christian or whatever and work around it or through it. It would just be more confusing is all.

That's why it takes me so long to write things sometimes, I want each line to have an impact, if it doesn't then I'm wasting my time. You have to use imagery and keep everything in the active voice. It should speak to any person who is unhappy with their spiritual life, or feels the need for more, something. I want to do that in sort of a sweeping sort of way because you don't want to make people feel like you are debasing their current beliefs no matter how nebulous they might be. For instance, it is very hard to accept that human beings are not at the center of the spiritual universe for most people. Their egos insist that they be important somehow.
