About Me
Hello, everyone. This is just an introduction. Some housekeeping notes:
***Everything that I write should be considered my own “UPG”, as we are all different with our own needs, experiences, and perspectives.
**According to Wikipedia: “Unverified personal gnosis (often abbreviated UPG) is the phenomenological concept that an individual's spiritual insights (or gnosis) may be valid for them without being generalizable to the experience of others.”
Iris Shikoba is my spiritual name. I chose Iris primarily because of the meaning of the Iris of the eye which is a thin, circular part of the eye that controls how much light hits the retina of the eye by changing the diameter and size of the pupil. But I also chose the name Iris for the messenger Goddess, and by extension, the rainbow. An Iris is also a beautiful flower. I chose Shikoba which is a Choktaw Native American Indian word that means feather. I follow primarily a Native American approach to life and nature, though I am also eclectic and use things from everywhere (I'm a Spiritual Omnist). According to Native-net, feathers are an important symbol of the Native American Indian way of life, used to represent: freedom, power, wisdom, honor, trust, strength, and much more.
My Patron God and Goddess are Thoth and Seshat. I love learning and growing and seeking knowledge and research. Every day, I make it a point to learn something new. I look at each person, each animal, each part of nature, and even man-made objects as teachers. I would love to help make this world a better place.
I have four primary Spirit animals. My Spirit Guardian is a front-two-footed Winged Serpent (a Dragon) whose lower body can change into anything that's needed. My Spirit Totem is both the Phoenix and the Thunderbird adopted me. My Spirit Guide is the Moth. My Spirit Overwatch, which is linked to to my Third-eye chakra and spirit body, is the Mole.
~My Journey:
Though I didn't know it at the time, my spiritual journey started when I was ten years old. I had been going through some things, and was just leaving my biological mother to live with my biological father.
Having been moving to a new state (in the USA), and even though one of my sisters was with me, I felt alone and adrift. I had my first Spirit Journey, though I didn't have a name to put to it at the time.
I called out for help, and was answered by my Spirit Guardian. My Dragon is a Winged Serpent with two feet near the front of her body. The lower half of her body is able to transform into anything that is needed.
She accompanies me on every Spirit Journey that I take, and helps me--with my other Spirit Animals--along my life's Journey.
There is so much more that I want to write, but I’ll save them for future posts.
