Guest hahamonkey Posted April 26, 2015 Posted April 26, 2015 Hello, Lately, I've been interested in exploring dream layers. By this, I mean I will go to sleep, start dreaming, change it to lucid dreaming and work with that dream for a while... and then go to sleep in that dream and then start dreaming, and change that into lucid dreaming. So far, I've gone two layers deep, and things have gone ok. But, I'm wondering if anyone knows if there might be risk for going deeper? What I'm concerned about it is getting lost by losing count of which layer I'm in, mostly. But, I'm not sure if that's a valid concern? Thanks for any helpful ideas or advice, H Quote
Mark Posted April 26, 2015 Posted April 26, 2015 Hi Hahamonkey, I've only worked with lucid dreaming for a short time in my life and from my experiences I always found that when I woke up in this reality no matter how many "layers" I was in my awake side would take over. What I have found to be even more valuable for me is bring dreaming energy into the wake side and use it while during the day. Things got even more interesting when I started doing that. The lucid dreaming stuff was fun but I never really was able to utilize it in a functional way for the work I want to do shamanically speaking. Mark Quote
Guest hahamonkey Posted April 27, 2015 Posted April 27, 2015 Thank you for the response, much appreciated, Mark. I see there are some articles on this website about awake dreaming and such. So, I'll spend some time with that. I hadn't really considered how lucid dreaming could be used shamanically. Mostly, I just considered it a practice of being aware that I was in a certain kind of dream space. But, I think, at the same time, I almost feel like lucid dreaming is sometimes more limiting than normal dreams, because it's like my mind says "normally, you can't fly, but, here, you can... so go ahead" -- like reason and logic filter in and maybe hamper the dream's possibilities. Whereas a dream recall seems more expansive because I just watch the unfolding happen without trying to mentally comprehend it... it just occurs, whatever unusual thing it is, is accepted at that time. It's not until I wake up and recall the dream do I start in with the limiting rational/reasoning mindset. BTW, I'm a Wisconsinite, too. -Holly Quote
Karl Posted April 27, 2015 Posted April 27, 2015 If you can go more than one layer in, you might as well keep going. See what you find when you run out of layers I don't think there's any danger Quote
Guest hahamonkey Posted April 27, 2015 Posted April 27, 2015 Thanks, Karl. I'll give it a go and see what happens! Quote
