In my experience I found that among those on their spiritual path there are quite a few that had all sorts of spiritual abilities but were not able to wrest control away from their mind/ego. Being able to do the latter is for me awareness - i.e. awareness of me being aware; for example being able to hear yourself think without being the thinker (Lots of "beings" :-) ). To me this ability seemed to be more important, especialy when applied to wordly encounters or situations -but seemingly impossible to do all the time.

A Siberian shaman told me that in his tradition they teach awareness as the third step after first healing and then rituals.

How do the Makers teach and practice awareness in this sense? Is that part or a result of the stalking process?

Thanks

Good morning, Jan.

We have a class on awareness itself, but that is preceded by other classes in self-healing (including stalking) and expansion of who we are. All of our classes are designed to move the student away from Mind and toward a greater awareness in general. You are correct - that can be one of the toughest tasks we have, and for most it is a constant vigilance to keep the mind quiet. We have 50-some specific classes in all, beginning with those concentrated on self-healing, and moving on through movement out into the world, then movement into "other" worlds, and finally classes in our healing methods.

Hope this helps!

HI Jan,

To add to what Beth said, we also look at the energy of perception: something the mind directly shapes and influences through a gamut of each individual's personal lens, that works in tandem with awareness. In your words, if "you hear yourself think without being the thinker", what kind of thoughts are you hearing yourself think?

I hope this helps too.

Thanks for the quick replies. Yes, that helps - at least to a degree. And it makes sense to me. Nevertheles I think I will have to think on the relationship between awareness and perception a bit more as I have perceived it.

And I am not sure whether a quiet mind is possible or even necessary since I think (at least at the moment) the important part is just to not let it rule your actions.
